With a PhD in Contemporary Art, he is Professor Auxiliar at the Arts College (where he coordinates the Master Course on Curatorial Studies) and Letters Faculty (where he teatches Art Theory and Contemporary Art).

He was the President of the International Art Critics Association /Portugal.

He was the Chief Curator of the Lisbon Architecture Triennial 2010.

Between 2003 and 2006 was the Director of the CCB Exhibition Center in Lisbon.

He was the founder and Director of the Art Magazine Pangloss.

Between 1997 and 2003 was consultant of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

In 1999 he was the curator of the Portuguese Representation at the 48th Venice Biennale. In 2010 was co-curator of the Portuguese Representation at the 12th Mostra di Architettura di Venezia.
